Alcohol and tobacco-free family event comes to downtown Little Falls Friday, May 18
There will be plenty to do at Le Bourget Park Friday, May 18, starting at 5 p.m. with local bands “Big Sweet Life” and “Sons of Knut” headlining local music talent while the concession stand and grill opens.
A myriad of activities awaits kids, as well as a silent auction and a health fair beginning at 5 p.m. Additionally, 100 “salsa garden” seedlings (tomato, pepper, onion) cultivated by science classes from Little Falls Community High School will be given out to the community during the event.
The 10K and two-mile races start at 6:30 p.m. in addition to the two-mile walk and stroller-push. Prizes are awarded to the top three finishers (male and female) of the 10K and two-mile (races only) on center stage at 7:30 p.m. Registration for the races is $20 ($10 for Kids 1K) on or before May 4 ($25 after and on race-day). T-shirts and race bags will be given to those who pre-register. The kids 1K race starts at 6 p.m. with prizes awarded to the top finishers in both boys and girls categories for ages 12 and younger.
“This year the course will wind north along the river and up along Grouse road with a loop back to Le Bourget Park where the finishers will be greeted by those who’ve come to participate in all the Rock ‘n Run events,” said Jacki DeVine, race coordinator. “There will be live music playing, food on the grill and games for the kids. It should be a really fun evening.”
New to the event this year is the option to register for the two-mile and 10K events as a team of four or more adults at a discounted rate if registered by May 4. Additionally, the Rock ‘n Run is partnering with the Ride for Unity, sponsored by St. Gabriel’s Hospital Auxiliary, featuring 10 and 20-mile scenic bicycle rides.
