Betty J. Nieman, 81

Betty J. Nieman a resident of Little Falls, passed away Tuesday, March 27, 2012, at Diamond Willow Assisted Living in Little Falls.

Funeral services will be held at 11 A.M. on Saturday, March 31, 2012 at Bethel Lutheran Church in Little Falls, MN with Rev. Nate Bjorge and Rev. Don Ludemann  officiating. Burial will be in Darling Cemetery in Little Falls, MN. Friends may call from 4-8 P.M. on Friday at the Shelley Funeral Chapel in Little Falls and from 10-11 A.M. on Saturday at Bethel Lutheran in Little Falls. Funeral arrangements are with the Shelley Funeral Chapel in Little Falls.

Betty was born Nov. 14, 1930, in Browerville, to the late Harry and Fay (Ward) Johnson. She attended school and graduated from Little Falls Community High School. Upon graduation she attended business school at St. Cloud Technical College in St. Cloud. She was united in marriage to Albert “Bill” Nieman, Feb. 10, 1951, at Zion Lutheran Church in Little Falls. Betty worked for several years as a bookkeeper at the Morrison County Courthouse and at Dr. Willard Betlock’s optometry clinic. Most of all Betty was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and a great housekeeper. Betty was a wonderful cook and baker, specializing in barbecued ribs, fish and her famous potato salad. She also enjoyed sewing, crocheting, quilting and working with ceramics. In her free time, Betty liked to spend time working on her word find books. She was a former member of Bethel Lutheran Church in Little Falls and is a current member at Faith Lutheran Church in Little Falls. Betty was actively involved with the Altar Guild, WELCA, and the Bethel Lutheran Choir. She was dearly loved by her family and friends and will be greatly missed.

Betty is survived by her husband, Albert “Bill” Nieman of Little Falls; sons, Mike (Renee) Nieman of Little Falls and Mark (Sue) Nieman of Stillwater; daughters, Barb Reitz of Melbourne, Iowa and Wendy (Dave) Rutz of Little Falls; grandchildren, Amy (Christopher) Hartwig, Robert “Bobby” Reitz, Brad Rutz, Chad (fiancé Katrina) Rutz, Cortney (Brent) Ambuehl, Michelle (Jeremy) Taugtes, Jason (Katie) Nieman and Kelli Nieman; and great-grandchildren, Brenden Hartwig, Logan Hartwig, Carrson Hartwig, Norah Hartwig, Madyson Rutz, Cara Rutz, Gavin Ambuehl, Jayden Taugtes, and Bennett Taugtes.

Betty was preceded in death by mother, Fay Ring-welski; father, Harry Johnson; and step-father, Thomas J. Ringwelski.
