A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, March 31, 2012 at Lakeview Community Church, Hillman, MN.
John was born in Little Falls, to Gerrit and Cleta (Hoskins) Nieken. He married Diane Hoosline in Osakis, July 25, 1970. John ran Triple Pine Farms in Hillman, with his sons until the time of his death. He spent many years on the road working for Longyear. John also owned and operated N&N Enterprises. He was recently working for Milton Contracting. John enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren, debating politics with anyone who would listen and watching Fox News. He was happiest when he was hunting with all of his children and grandchildren. John was so excited upon learning he was going to become a great-grandpa. He will be greatly missed by all.
John Nieken is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Diane; sons, Jason (April) Nieken, Ronald (Jenny) Nieken, all of Hillman; daughter, Tanya Wetterling (Matt Janssen) of St. Cloud; grandchildren, Alicia, Caleb, Rachel, Tyler and Kaitlyn; brothers, Gary (Nancy) Nieken of Motley and Tod (Sandy) Nieken of Hillman; sisters, Joyce (Walt) Ksiazek of Onamia and Diane (Brien) Beulin of Milaca; sister-in-law, Pauline of Brainerd; mother-in-law, Genevieve (Bob) Thieschafer of Long Prairie; great-uncle, Lloyd of Hillman; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Gerrit and Cleta Nieken; brother, Richard Nieken; and an infant brother; father-in-law, Donald Hoosline; and brother-in-law, Richard Hoosline.
