Little Falls Community High School named Amanda Hanson, left, and Joey Hanowski as its February Athletes of the Month. Hanson, a junior on the gymnastics team, is an all-around gymnast who worked very hard during the offseason and improved her skills and her routines greatly this year, co-head coach Shelley LeBlanc said. “She is consistently in the top two on our team in three out of the four events,” LeBlanc said. “She has improved her all-around score by three points this season, which is very hard to do. She has also consistently improved her vault and bars scores.” Hanson earned All-Granite Ridge Conference honorable mention recognition and placed 10th in the Section 8A all-around despite filling in on beam at the last minute due to a teammate’s illness. Hanowski, a senior on the boys hockey team, was the team’s leading scorer throughout the season and helped the Flyers win the Section 6AA championship and earn a spot in the state tournament. At state, Hanowski scored five goals, including a hat trick in the consolation championship. “Joey had a great season and is a team leader, on and off the ice,” head coach Tony Couture said.
