Morrison County Record’s All-Area Girls Basketball Team

Guard

Aimee Pelzer, junior, Upsala

Pelzer, The Record’s Player of the Year, was a dynamic playmaker at both ends of the court this season, helping Upsala reel off a perfect 16-0 Prairie Conference record and a sub-section championship. Pelzer efforts were rewarded with a third conference Most Valuable Player Award and a spot on the Class A all-state team.

 

Guard

Jamie Jenks, junior, Little Falls

Jenks’ impact on the Flyers went well beyond statistics, as the junior guard’s hustle and defense provided a spark to the team throughout the winter. Still, she added strong numbers to go with that, averaging 10.9 points, 4.8 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 2.1 steals per game, earning All-Granite Ridge Conference distinction.

 

Forward

Kimmy Mrozek, senior, Upsala

For all of her offensive success, tenacious defensive play set Mrozek apart, as she accumulated 86 steals while forcing several more turnovers. She also averaged 15.9 points per game on 51.6 percent shooting, while recording 5.8 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game as well for the Prairie Conference champion Cardinals.

 

Forward

Lindsay Monson, senior, Pierz

Monson controlled the paint with authority for the Pioneers this season, garnering All-Central Minnesota Conference honors. Monson secured 9.6 rebounds per game, including 108 offensive boards, netted 14.3 points per game for Pierz. She also set school records for career blocks (184), blocks in a season (102) and blocks in a game (9).

 

Center

Whitney Weisz, senior, Little Falls

Weisz made her mark as one of the top all-around athletes of the state this winter, following up a state championship swimming season by being named to the Class AAA all-state team. She nearly averaged a double-double for the season with 18.7 points and 9.7 rebounds per game and swatted away 110 shots to earn the Granite Ridge Conference Most Valuable Player award.
