The Swanville softball team jumped out to an early lead in its season opener at Holdingford, Monday.
But the Huskers battled back and broke the game open with a 12-run third inning en route to a 21-5 win.
Swanville started strong, plating a pair of batters in the top of the first inning to take a quick 2-0 lead.
Holdingford bounced back with two in the bottom of the inning and another in the second to take a 3-2 lead.
However, Swanville knotted the score back up with a run in the third before Holdingford seized control of the game in the bottom of the frame.
Junior Ashley Breth went 3-for-3, drove in two and crossed the plate four times to lead the Huskers offensively.
Senior Allison Meagher and junior Janessa Gill each had two hits and senior Katelyn Butkowski tripled and scored three runs.
Junior Alyssa Ohman went the distance on the mound, striking out eight to earn the win.
Junior Marissa Evans hit a pair of doubles and scored twice for Swanville.
Senior Courtney Sieben and juniors Tiffany Barthel and Abbey Schultz each had one hit.
Swanville plays at Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City today and Holdingford hosts Foley Thursday.
