Services were held Tuesday, April 3, at Lincoln Evangelical Free Church in Lincoln with the Rev. David Wold and the Rev. Jim Brown officiating. Burial was Wednesday, April 4, at Elmhurst Cemetery in St. Paul.
Fern was born June 10, 1918 in Iowa, the daughter of the late Otto and Josephine Dreher. She moved to the Lincoln area with her parents at the age of three. The family moved to Lake Bronson where she was raised on a farm. She was united in marriage to Alphonse Weyand Oct. 12, 1936, in Hallock. They lived in St. Paul, then California. They returned to St. Paul where she worked at Gould Battery for many years. She retired to Lake Alexander then later to St. Paul and lived with her daughter Fern. Following Fern’s death, she moved back to Lake Alexander and lived with her grandson Ben and wife Jaurone Richards the past four years until the time of her death. She enjoyed dancing, fishing, playing cards, gardening, the outdoors and visiting with friends. Memorials are preferred.
Fern Weyand is survived by her son, Alphonse (Jacqueline) Weyand of Hastings; sister, Irene Kimmel; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Alphonse (1987); daughter, Fern (2007); grandson, Troy; and three brothers and three sisters.
