Dr. Richard G. Peterson, 85

Richard George Peterson, a resident of Little Falls, passed away April 4, 2012, while recovering from surgery in Spring Valley, Wis.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 14, at 11 a.m. at First United Church in Little Falls.

Richard was born Oct. 27, 1926, in Proctor, to Alfred and Mary Peterson. After finishing school in Proctor, Richard joined the Navy and served from 1944-46. Richard married Carmen Mickelson June 10, 1950, in Chisholm. Richard graduated from the University of Minnesota Veterinary School in 1953. He practiced in Cloquet for four years before moving to Little Falls in 1957 to join with Dr. W.A. Leibbrand to form the Little Falls Veterinary Clinic where he was associated until his retirement in 1986. In addition to being involved with practice or veterinary medicine in the Morrison County area, Richard had been actively involved in several community organizations including First United Church, the Masonic Lodge, the Little Falls Hockey Association and the Hole in the Day Players. He was a loving husband and father and will be greatly missed by family and friends.

Richard is survived by his children, Ross of Mineapolis, Paul (Wanda) of St. Paul, Wendy (Jay) Arneson of Spring Valley, Wis., Todd (Helen) of Coon Rapids and Dane (Lindsey) of Roseville; grandchildren, Crystal, John, Luke, Mark, Paige and Claire; one great-grandson, Juan Carlos.

Richard was preceded in death by his wife Carmen.
