To the Editor:
I wish to thank Rep. Mike LeMieur, R-Little Falls, and Rep. John Ward, DFL-Brainerd, for taking time to meet with area constituents who recently traveled to St. Paul. Unfortunately, Sen. Paul Gazelka did not make himself available.
Although we had a tentative time to meet, he never did make himself available. After waiting outside the chamber for nearly two hours, it was very disappointing to note several other senators from both parties come out to meet with their constituents while we were ignored by our senator, even after the committee hearing ended.
To Sen. Gazelka, I would think that if 48 of your constituents care enough to travel 250 miles round trip to meet with you that you could at least give them five minutes of your time. Having attended “Day on the Hill” events for many years, I can honestly say that every other legislator from our district, both Republican and Democrat, have always given us at least a few minutes of their time. Sadly, Gazelka does not appear to have any interest in his constituents’ concerns. I sincerely hope the voters of District 9 remember how Gazelka treats his constituents when it comes time to vote in November. — Liz Wheeler, Randall
