The Pierz boys and girls track and field teams each won a pair of events in its home Early Bird Invitational, Thursday.
The girls team finished second overall, just behind winner Pequot Lakes.
The boys squad took fourth place.
Capturing event wins for the Pioneers were seniors Tracy Wimmer in the 800-meter run (2:40.54) and Cassie Stangl in the pole vault (8-feet).
Earning runner-up finishes were senior Olivia Zajac in the discus throw (79-feet, 10.5-inches), Wimmer in the 1,600 (5:52.29), junior Alyssa Boser in the 100 hurdles (18.25) and shot put (29-feet, 4-inches), sophomores Gabriella Kroska in the long jump (13-feet, 6.75-inches) and Bridget Bednar in the high jump (4-feet, 10-inches) and freshman Maggie Gruber in the 800 (2:42.4).
Taking third were senior Abby Cyr in the 800 (2:43.86) Gruber in the 1,600 (5:55.62), Boser in the 300 hurdles (56.03) and freshman Raychel Virnig in the shot put (27-feet, 9-inches).
Sophomore Tyler Millner took first place in the 100 (11.79) and 300 hurdles (44.18) to pace Pierz.
Taking second were senior Caleb Janson in the high jump (5-feet, 10-inches) and freshman Kyle Becker in the 1,600 (4:57.75) and senior Michael Marshik was third in the long jump (19-feet, 5-inches).
