Baseball: Thoma, Eckman and Stewart go deep as Little Falls trounces Albany 16-3

Senior Luke Thoma hit a grand slam and tossed a complete game to lead Little Falls to a 16-3 win at Albany, Monday, in a rematch of last season’s section semifinals.
The Flyers led 3-2 after the second inning, added a run in the third, then blew the game open with five runs in the fourth and seven more in the fifth.
Junior Collin Eckman led off the fourth with a homer and senior Ian Stewart hit a pinch-hit two-run shot in the fifth to help power Little Falls to the win.
Seniors Joey Hanowski and Mitch Gregory and junior Matt Stumpf each had three hits and scored twice, with Hanowski drive in three.
Seniors Tony Arnold and Matt Valentine each added a hit and scored twice.
Thoma only allowed one earned run over five innings and fanned three to earn his second win in as many starts.
Little Falls hosts Sauk Rapids-Rice, Tuesday.
