Three local couples traveled to Fort Lauderdale, Aruba, Costa Rica, Panama Canal, Huatulco and Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, on a 14-day cruise March 2 – 16. They enjoyed temperatures up to 89 degrees and said the highlight of the trip was the Panama Canal, one of the most remarkable feats in the history of engineering. It shortens the distance between many Atlantic-to-Pacific ports by 8,000 miles and cuts the total mileage from Great Britain to New Zealand by 1,500 miles. Upon the group’s departure from San Diego, Calif., the weather was colder than that in Minnesota. They agreed the trip was wonderful, but that they were glad to be home.
