Albert L. Urai, 88

Albert L. Urai, a resident of Pierz, passed away Monday, April 9, 2012, at St. Gabriel’s Hospital in Little Falls.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held Wednesday, April 11, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Pierz, with Father Gerald Dalseth officiating. Burial was at St. Joseph’s Parish Cemetery in Pierz.

Albert L. Urai was born Oct. 14, 1925, in Pierz, to the late Joseph and Christina (Jamma) Urai. He attended country school and worked on the family farm near Pierz. Albert served his country in the U.S. Army as a tank driver, during World War II. After the war, Albert moved back to the farm and started a construction company. He later farmed with his brother Ignatz and together they grew crops and raised beef cattle. Albert was known as a “jack of all trades.” He enjoyed working on the farm, welding, hunting, fishing, horses and dogs.

Albert is survived by his sisters, Regina Langer of Pierz and Madeline Sweeney of Roseville; and many nieces and nephews.

Albert was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Leo and Ignatz Urai; brothers-in-law, Ben Langer and Clete Sweeney; sister-in-law, Clarita Urai.

Pallbearers were Jerry Girtz, Glenn Boyd, Ron Girtz, Tim Sweeney, Michael Nolan and Gene Girtz.
