Senior Travis Schneider allowed just one hit while striking out 10 batters to lead the Upsala-Swanville Area baseball (USA) team to a 12-2 win over Eagle Valley in its Prairie Conference opener, Tuesday.

USA built a 3-0 lead through three innings of play, but Eagle Valley trimmed the gap to one with two runs in the fourth.

The Patriots added a run back to their lead in the fourth inning, then sealed the win with an eight-run sixth.

Junior Colten Kruzel went 3-for-5 with a double, two triples and five RBIs to power the USA offense.

Juniors Brock Cichon and Alec Griffith each added two hits and two runs and sophomore Eric Lampert reached base three times and scored twice.

The Patriots play at Browerville, Thursday.
