Darrel Kephart, 82

Darrel Kephart, a resident of Onamia,  passed away Sunday, April 8, 2012, at Harmony House in Little Falls.

A memorial service was held Thursday, April 12, at Bethany Lutheran Church in Onamia, with Pastor Kris Johnson officiating.

Darrel was born June 1, 1929, in Marshalltown, Iowa, to Erwin and Oletha. He was united in marriage to Carol J. Neuenfeldt May 27, 1955, in Minneapolis. Darrel was in the Army at Fort Lewis Washington from 1951-1953. He painted bridges for the railroad and cooked for the crew. Darrel built his first home in Fridley. He painted locomotives in Minneapolis. Darrel worked at Minneaplis Electric Steel Casting as a maintenance welder and engineer. He farmed for nine years near Onamia. Darrel was owner and baker for 11 years at Kephart’s Bakery in Onamia. He was involved in the City Council, Civic Association, Rotary, Church Council and Sunday School. He traveled in 40 states. Darrel retired at 58 to another home in Onamia where he enjoyed being married 57 years to Carol. He also enjoyed gardening, fishing, his children and their lives.

He is survived by his wife,  Carol J. Kephart of Onamia; children, Michael (Carol) Kephart of Fargo, N.D., Patricia (Bruce) Moller, Aaron and Hannah of Little Falls, Barbara (Rick) Bellamy, Becky, Kim and Travis of Onamia, Raymond (Sandy) Kephart, Mitch and Jay of Milacam Deborah (Randy) Struck, Nicole, Jesse and John of Royalton, Dennis (Pam) Kephart, Heather, William and Dustin of Milaca; half-brother, Ron (Janelle) Kephart of Evansdale, Iowa; stepbrother, Larry (Judy) Palmer of Evansdale, Iowa; and great-grandchildren, Dakota, Hailey and Marley, Mason, Michael and Michaela, and Clinton.

Darrel was preceded in death by his parents, Erwin and Oletha; and his twin sister, Darlene.
