Charges of assaulting a police officer dismissed against Romanio
In the Seventh Judicial District Court of Morrison County, Katie Ann Romanio, 31, Wadena, had two felony counts of fourth degree assault on a peace officer and one misdemeanor count of disorderly conduct dismissed March 22.
On May 10, 2011, the Little Falls Police department received a report of two women behaving in a disorderly manner at a business in Little Falls.
When police arrived, Romanio was observed running away and she would not look at the officer when he ordered her to stop.
When the officer caught up with her and attempted to place her in handcuffs, Romanio used profanity, spit on the officer and continued to resist.
Romanio was eventually placed under arrest and brought to jail.
Todd Kosovich, assistant county attorney, said, her charges were dismissed because, “In the interests of justice and due to the defendant’s mental illness, the officers involved agreed with the dismissal.”
