After letting an early lead slip away, the Upsala-Swanville Area (USA) baseball team plated three runs in the fifth to force extra innings at Long Prairie-Grey Eagle (LPGE), April 19.

But the Thunder picked up a run in the bottom of the eighth, handing the Patriots a 7-6 setback.

Junior Alec Griffith and sophomore Christian Pekarek each had a single, a double and drew a walk, while junior Brock Cichon and sophomore Eric Lampert also collected two hits for USA.

Junior Nick Frieler knocked in a run and scored twice himself.

“We executed offensively very well but let another game slip away by not being able to make the play that gets us out of the inning,” USA head coach Ken Solarz said.
