Junior Brad Meyer shut down the Albany lineup, Friday, tossing a one-hitter to pitch Pierz past Albany 4-2.
The host Pioneers got on the board first with a pair of runs in its opening at-bat.
Albany came back with two runs in the third to tie the score, but Pierz regained the lead with the final two runs in the fourth.
Junior Ben Boser went 2-for-2 with a run and senior Trent Davis and Meyer each singled and scored for Pierz.
“Brad Meyer pitched an excellent game for us and we did a great job of executing with runners on,” Pierz head coach Danny Saehr said. “This is a nice win for us against a good team.”
