The Camp Ripley Fire Department will be conducting prescribed burning Tuesday, April 24, between 11 a.m. – 5 p.m.
During this time period the surrounding areas of Camp Ripley can expect to see smoke and smell the fires. The staff at Camp Ripley apologizes for this; however conducting the burns greatly reduces the chances for uncontrollable wildfires.
The burns are completed every spring before Camp Ripley begins its summer annual training season for Soldiers, Airmen, and Marines of the Armed Forces.
The fires are started, monitored and controlled in accordance with the Department of Natural Resources and the Camp Ripley Fire Department.
Individuals with concerns about the burns may contact the Camp Ripley Public Affairs Office via phone by calling (320) 616-3122.
