Track and Field: Wimmer wins 800 to spark Pierz to fourth at Foley

Senior Tracy Wimmer took first place in the 800-meter run in 2:37.22 and earned third in the 1,600 (5:54) to pace the Pierz girls track and field team to fourth place at Foley, April 20.

The 4×800 relay team finished second (11:02.07), senior Lindsay Monson earned third in the shot put (31-feet, 5.75-inches) and the discus (97-feet, 6-inches) and sophomore Bridget Bednar took third in the high jump (5-feet).

Placing fourth were senior Mariah Hoheisel in the 1,600 (6:09.41), freshman Maggie Gruber in the 800 (2:39.47) and the 4×400 relay team (4:39.76).

Junior Megan Hoheisel ran a 13:27.08 in the 3,200 and the 4×100 relay team finished in 55.85 to place fifth.

Freshman Kyle Becker led the Pioneers boys, placing second in the 1,600 (4:58.48) and fifth in the 3,200 (10:59.11).

Pierz earned fourth in the 4×100 relay (47.94) and sophomore Tyler Millner took fourth in the 300 hurdles (43.73) and fifth in the 100 (11.58).

Pierz competes at Holdingford, Friday.
