Pierz came out swinging against Class A’s top-ranked defending state champion Eden Valley-Watkins, Tuesday, not letting up until recording a 13-2, six-inning win.

The visiting Pioneers seized control early with three in the first and four in the second before putting the game away with a five-run sixth.

Senior Trent Davis and junior Brad Meyer each went 3-for-4 to lead Pierz, with Davis picking up two doubles, runs and RBIs.

Juniors Ben Boser, Cody Weiss and Brady Dorn each added two hits and two runs and junior Nick Lochner doubled twice and drove in three.

“We played our best game of the year so far,” Pierz head coach Danny Saehr said. “Pitched well, played solid defense and came out hitting.”

Pierz hosts a doubleheader against Maple Lake, Thursday.
