Girls Golf: Hawks finishes two strokes off the leader at HLWW

Pierz freshman Jessica Hawks made a run at medalist honors to lead the Pierz girls golf team to fourth place at Tuesday’s Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted (HLWW) Central Minnesota Conference meet.

Hawks finished the day with a round of 42, tying her for third place, just two strokes back of the leader.

“(Jessica) has worked hard on her game and is seeing the hard work pay off,” Pierz head coach Steve Holbrook said. “It will be fun to watch her game continue to improve.”

Senior Beth Woitalla turned in the next best score with a round of 50, while senior Anna Poster and junior Katie Kowalzek each shot 52 to round out the scoring.

Pierz competes at Kimball Area, Thursday.
