Softball: Cekalla throws four-hitter as Little Falls shuts out Melrose

Melrose Area kept the Little Falls softball team from pulling away after the Flyers’ two-run first inning in Tuesday’s non-conference match-up.

But Flyers sophomore Alea Cekalla didn’t need any more, shutting out Melrose Area on four hits in a 5-0 Little Falls victory.

Junior Jamie Jenks drilled three hits and scored two runs and junior Chelsey Karnowski knocked in two runs to lead Little Falls.

Senior Alayna Kabanuk doubled and seniors Brichelle Brummer and Holly Kampa and junior Chantelle Anderson each singled.

Little Falls travels to Mora for a showdown of unbeaten Granite Ridge Conference teams, Thursday.
