North Dakota man charged with felony theft

Gregg Kevin Boyer, 63, Barney, N.D., has been charged in Morrison County District Court with one count of felony theft, taking, using or transferring movable property without the consent of the owner.

In January, a Morrison County Sheriff’s officer met with one of the owners of Mid-America Auction Company. He stated that in November 2011, the company had held an auction in Buh Township in Morrison County. Boyer had the high bid on an auger wagon for $525 and a hay rack trailer for $575. He then allegedly took the items from the auction without paying for them.

On Jan. 5, Boyer went to another auction run by Mid-America Auction Company in Sauk Centre. According to the criminal report, after an employee handed him a bill for the November auction, Boyer left without talking to anyone or paying the bill.

On Feb. 14, Mid-America contacted the Morrison County Sheriff’s Department and told an officer that Boyer had again been given a bill and that he allegedly said he would send them a business check. But, that check has not arrived.

The Morrison County Sheriff’s office has tried to contact Boyer, but is unable to locate him. There is a warrant out for his arrest.

If convicted, Boyer faces a maximum penalty of five years in prison and/or a $10,000 fine.
