Softball: Nichols slams five hits to lead Royalton over Upsala

Royalton’s bats came to life as the Royals moved to 4-1 in the Prairie Conference with a 16-4 win at Upsala, Thursday.

Sophomore Jacquline Nichols nearly hit for the cycle to lead Royalton, going 5-for-5 with three singles, a triple and a homerun.

Senior Amy Vannurden went 4-for-5 with a double, RBI and two runs while earning the complete-game win on the mound.

Senior Allison Popp added three hits, an RBI and two runs as well.

Upsala sophomore Kaelin Smieja had two hits, including a two-run homer, and senior Miranda Voller went 2-for-3 with a run scored.
