Swanville announces its top 10 students for 2012
Lacee Primus, the daughter of Bill and Kristin Primus is the valedictorian for the class of 2012, with a grade point average (GPA) of 4.03.
Primus has been involved in volleyball, basketball, softball, National Honor Society (NHS), Student Council, speech, band and theater.
Her hobbies include reading, sewing and watching movies with her sister.
Primus will attend Winona State University to work toward a bachelor’s degree in a double major biology/chemistry and to participate in the school’s pre-medicine program. Her intentions are to become an obstetrician with a special license in reproductive endocrinology.
Alexis Loven, the daughter of Jay and Heidi Loven, is the salutatorian of the 2012 graduating class, with a 3.98 GPA.
During her high school career, Loven has been involved in volleyball, basketball, softball, Student Council and the NHS.
She enjoys playing sports, shopping, hanging out with friends and family.
This fall, Loven plans to attend the College of St. Benedict to study pre-med. After attaining her bachelor’s degree, she plans to study at the University of Minnesota Medical School to become a pediatrician. Her goal is to become a pediatrician at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester.
Katlin Kruzel, the daughter of Allen and Nell Kruzel and Tracy and Tim Hannah, will graduate with a 3.78 GPA.
Throughout her high school career, Kruzel has been involved in the Student Council and the NHS.
Her hobbies including reading, watching and going to movies, hanging out with friends, shopping and walking.
After graduation, Kruzel will attend Central Lakes College (CLC) to earn an associate of arts degree before transferring to a four-year college.
Courtney Sieben is the daughter of Mark and Deb Sieben. She will graduate with a 3.6 GPA.
During her high school career, Sieben was involved in volleyball, figure skating, softball, Student Council, NHS, Healthy Communities Collaborative (HCC), drama, speech and band.
In her spare time, Sieben enjoys scrapbooking, snowboarding, shopping and hanging out with friends and family.
Following her graduation, Sieben plans to attend North Dakota State University (NDSU) for pre-dentristry for the first four years before transferring to the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities to attend dental school.
Molly Jordan, daughter of Chuck Jordan and Becky and Virgil Dragert, will graduate with a 3.53 GPA.
In school, Jordan was active with Student Council, NHS, HCC and band, as well as volleyball, basketball and softball.
She enjoys playing sports, hanging out with friends and family, watching movies, reading books and magazines and just having fun.
This fall, Jordan plans to attend NDSU to major in registered nursing.
Heather Cook, the daughter of Kenny and Carol Wimmer and Richard and Maria Cook, will finish her high school career with a 3.4 GPA.
Cook was active in volleyball and basketball and softball in junior high.
During her free time, Cook likes to hang out with her friends, babysit, go shopping and play sports with friends for fun.
Following graduation, she will attend Bemidji State University to major in nursing.
Daniel James Barthel, the son of James and Lynn Barthel, maintained a 3.28 GPA during his high school career.
Barthel’s activities include school, working, fishing, hunting, catching pigeons and hanging out with friends
His hobbies include driving tractors, hunting everything, fishing for everything, spearing suckers, paintball and hanging out with friends
Barthel will work on the family farm following his graduation. He plans to make farming his lifetime career.
Alex Maciej, the daughter of Tony Maciej and the late Kellyann Lehrke, will graduate with a 3.22 GPA.
During high school, Maciej was involved in volleyball, dance, speech, theater and band.
In her free time, she enjoys hanging out with friends, playing cards, going for walks, socializing, riding motorcycles, four-wheelers and snowmobiles.
Maciej plans to attend CLC in Brainerd to acquire an associate of arts degree in accounting and two associate of arts degrees in computers.
Riley Gutormson is the son of Rick and Julie Gutormson and maintained a 3.20 GPA in high school.
He enjoys playing guitar, writing songs and hanging out with friends.
Following graduation, Gutormson plans to attend the University of North Dakota to pursue a bachelor’s degree in music therapy. He also intends to get a band together and hopes to one day become a famous musician or songwriter.
Ashley Peterson, the daughter of Michael and Michelle Peterson, will graduate with a 3.18 GPA.
In high school she played varsity volleyball and enjoys drawing, painting, listening music and hanging out with friends during her spare time.
After graduation, Peterson will attend St. Cloud Technical and Community College to pursue an associate of arts degree. She plans to either apply to art school after that or transfer to St. Cloud State University to pursue her studio arts degree. Peterson hopes to someday own an art gallery and be successful with her artwork.
