The Upsala-Swanville Area (USA) girls track and field team posted seven top-three finishes, including a pair of runners-up, at Monday’s Melrose quad.
Sophomore Amanda Rieffer was the top individual placer with a second-place height of 4-feet, 9-inches in the high jump and the 4×200 relay team of freshmen Brooke Westrich and Danica Cheney, senior Dawn Evoniuk and freshman Danica Hanson also earned second (1:58.06).
Placing third for USA were Hanson in the high jump (4-feet, 7-inches), Westrich in the 100 (13.69) and 200 (29.62), eighth grader Hannah Mettler in the 1,600 (6:44.24) and the 4×800 relay team of Roerick, Evoniuk, eighth grader McKenzie Barth and Mettler (12:10.6).
Other top finishes included junior Emma Guthrie in the high jump (4-feet, 5.25-inches), Roerick in the 800 (2:54.94) and Westrich in the long jump (14-feet, 7-inches) placing fourth; freshman Lacey Brezinka in the triple jump (26-feet, 3-inches), Cheney in the 200 (30.31) and Hanson in the 100 hurdles (20.91) earning fifth; and Cheney in the 300 hurdles (55.7) and Mettler in the 100 hurdles (21.03) taking sixth.
Junior Paul Fruechte was the top finisher for the Patriots boys, sliding just under the minute-mark in the 400 to place fourth in 59.98.
Earning sixth for USA were senior Andrew DuBois in the long jump (16-feet, 1.5-inches), sophomore Corey Poland in the 400 (1:03.66) and Fruechte in the triple jump (33-feet, 7-inches).
USA competes at Pillager, Thursday.
