Lucille A. Langer, 91
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Saturday, May 5, 2012 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Pierz with Father Gerald Dalseth officiating. Burial will be at St. Joseph’s Parish Cemetery in Pierz. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 PM on Friday, May 4th at the Shelley-Virnig Funeral Chapel in Pierz and from 9 to 10 AM on Saturday at the Shelley-Virnig Funeral Chapel in Pierz. Christian Mothers will pray the Rosary at 4:30 PM, Rich Prairie American Legion Auxiliary Prayers at 5 PM, followed by Parish Prayers at 6 PM on Friday at the funeral chapel.
Lucille A. Langer was born Dec. 2, 1920, in Pierz Township, Morrison County, to the late Frank and Theresa (Flicker) Gruber. She grew up and attended school in Pierz and was a lifetime resident of Pierz. Lucille was united in marriage to Cornelius Langer May 14, 1947, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Pierz. The couple made their home in Pierz, raising their three children. Lucille worked for 23 years as a secretary at Pierz Pioneer High School. A gentle woman, loving mother and grandmother, she took pride in her family and enjoyed all little children. Lucille enjoyed plants, flowers, crafts, cooking and was known by her grandchildren as the “cookie lady.” She was a devoted member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Pierz and a longtime member of St. Joseph’s Christian Mothers.
Lucille is survived by her daughter, Teresa (David) Groppoli; sons, Raymond (Lynn Kane) Langer and Neil (Carole Arcand) Langer; seven grandchildren, John (Kadi) Groppoli, Mark (Laura) Groppoli, Dan (Katie) Groppoli, Anna, Julia, Nick and Etta Langer; five great-grandchildren, Emily, Jack, Elise, Claire and Alaina; four sisters, Lavina, Ione, Delli and Lila; two brothers, Fred and Gene; many nieces and nephews.
Lucille was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 40 years, Cornelius Langer; and one infant sister. Honorary pallbearers were St. Joseph’s Christian Mothers. Active Pallbearers were Lucille’s grandchildren, John Groppoli, Mark Groppoli, Dan Groppoli, Anna Langer, Julia Langer, Nick Langer and Etta Langer.
