Softball: Milaca edges Little Falls twice

Little Falls suffered its first two Granite Ridge Conference losses Monday at Milaca, falling 9-7 in the completion of a suspended game and 9-6 in the second contest.

Completing a game that was suspended with Little Falls trailing 9-4 in the fourth inning April 21, the Flyers cut the gap to two in the fifth, but was unable to complete the comeback.

Junior Jamie Jenks went 4-for-4 with three doubles and a pair of RBIs to lead Little Falls.

Seniors Chloe Nelson and Alayna Kabanuk and junior Chantelle Anderson all singled and scored.

Sophomore Alea Cekalla worked four shutout innings of relief.

Little Falls bounced back to take an early 3-0 lead in the finale, but Milaca scored five unanswered runs to take the lead in the fourth.

The Flyers evened the score at 6-6 in the top of the sixth, but the Wolves came right back with three unearned runs in the bottom of the inning to pick up the win.

Seniors Holley Kampa and Britian Conley and Jenks each had a pair of hits and collected an RBI, with Conley also scoring twice.

Kabanuk added a single, run and RBI.

Little Falls hosts St. Cloud Cathedral, Tuesday.
