After each team struck for two runs in the first inning, a pitchers’ duel developed between Eden Valley-Watkins and Holdingford, Monday.

Finally, with the score still knotted at 2-2, host Holdingford was able to break through in the bottom of the seventh, winning the game 3-2 when junior Jena Volkers tripled home sophomore Sam Maciej.

The Huskers got on the board in the first inning on run-scoring singles by juniors Ashley Breth and Haley Huls.

Junior Alyssa Ohman scattered six hits over seven innings and struck out eight without issuing a walk to earn the win.

Volkers finished the game 3-for-3 and Ohman reached base three times.

Holdingford plays a doubleheader at Kimball Area, Thursday.
