Randall upends Flensburg 12-11 in VL slugfest

Randall built a 4-2 lead early, fell behind 9-4, then rallied twice to pull out a wild 12-11 win against Flensburg in Victory League (VL) play May 5.
The game was tied 9-9 heading into the ninth inning when Flensburg’s Ian Stewart hit a two-run blast to put the Falcons up 11-9.
The Cubs came back with a run on a pitch that hit Josh Burgardt, then won it on a two-out, two-run single by Eric Thilquist.
Luke Thoma had three hits drove in six runs while Eddie Wenzel and Andy Wenz also had three hits for Flensburg.
Jason Peterschick reached base four times and collected three RBIs for Randall.

Upsala 9, Sobieski 6
Down to its final strike, Upsala managed to force extra innings against Sobieski, then held off the Skis in a high-scoring 12th for a 9-6 win.
Dustin Biniek delivered a game-tying two-run double in the ninth to knot the score at 4-4, then the Blue Jays struck for five runs in the top of the 12th to go ahead 9-4.
The Skis came back with two runs in the bottom of the inning and had the tying run at the plate, but the threat was averted by Upsala on a game-ending double play.
Adam Gerads went 3-for-5 with two RBIs and two runs to lead Upsala.
Joe Bartkowicz, Matt Swanson, Ben Burggraff and Brock Cichon added two hits apiece, with Bartkowicz homering.
Joey Hanowski went 3-for-6 with a double, RBI and run for Sobieski.
Lastrup 5, Buckman 0
Scott Janson tossed six shutout innings and Chad Weiss closed out the game with three more to pitch Lastrup to a 5-0 win over Buckman.
Rick Schlieman had three hits and two RBIs for Lastrup, with Reggie Litke, Dan Saehr and Janson adding two apiece.
Tyler Monson collected two of Buckman’s four hits.
Fort Ripley 8, Royalton 3
Brett Kramer allowed just one run on two hits while striking out 11 to pitch Fort Ripley to an 8-3 win over Royalton.
Jason Sather led the Rebels offensively with a three-hit game as Fort Ripley remained unbeaten.
Paul Krebs had a pair of hits and Emil Trutwin reached base twice for Royalton.
St. Wendel 9, Harding 6
Trevor Van Heel and John Pogatchnick teamed up for four hits and three RBIs as St. Wendel moved to 3-0 with a 9-6 win over Harding.
Damien Dumonceaux earned the win on the mound, striking out six.
Gary Woitalla singled and drove in a run for Harding.
Opole 8, Pierz Brewers 5
Nick Bialka blasted a homer and four players had two hits as Opole topped the Pierz Brewers 8-5.
John Pilarski, Mark Huls, Jim Muehlbauer and Bialka’s multi-hit games helped Jake Eichten earn the win for the Bears.
Mitchell Boser and Dan Kimman each went 2-for-4 with an RBI for the Brewers.
St. Stephen 10, Avon 5
Travis Phelps powered St. Stephen to a 10-5 triumph over Avon, going 4-for-5 with a home run, four RBIs and three runs for the Steves.
Cody Wolhart and Neil Theisen both had two hits and Nick Krippner recorded the win.
Dave Kalthoff homered and knocked in two runs, Jeff Swenson doubled with two RBIs and Neil Manthe reached base three times for Avon.
Freeport was scheduled to play at Royalton and Sobieski was scheduled to play at Upsala, Saturday, May 12.
Games slated to be played Sunday, May 13, include St. Wendel at Buckman; Avon at Pierz Brewers; Sobieski at Nisswa; Harding at Holdingford; Pierz Bulldogs at Opole; Lastrup at St. Stephen; Cuyuna Range at Flensburg; Randall at Freeport; St. Mathias at Royalton; and Fort Ripley at Upsala.
