Softball: Royalton erases nine-run deficit against Eagle Valley

Royalton junior Kalee Petron drives a pitch back up the middle for a base hit during Wednesday’s game against Eagle Valley. The Royals came back from behind 9-0 to win the game 14-13.

Royalton fell behind 9-0 in the first inning, but slowly chipped away at the Rebels lead, Wednesday.

Finally, junior Kalee Petron delivered a two-out, two-run single in the fifth to put Royalton ahead for the first time, 12-11.

Eagle Valley came back to go ahead 13-12, but the Royals had one more rally in them in the bottom of the seventh.

With senior Kelsey Petron on second base after a walk and steal with two outs, sophomore Jacquline Nichols blasted a walk-off home run to give Royalton a stunning 14-13 win.

Nichols finished with three hits, three RBIs and three runs and senior Allison Popp went 3-for-4.
