Softball: Little Falls clips Mora to earn share of GRC title

The Little Falls softball team closed out the regular season with a 7-6 home win over Mora, Tuesday, in the process claiming a share of the first-ever Granite Ridge Conference (GRC) title.

The Flyers jumped out to an early lead with a four-run first inning, only for Mora to battle back and take a 5-4 lead into the fifth.

Little Falls responded with another big inning, putting up three runs in the fifth before holding off a late rally to pick up the win.

Seniors Britian Conley and Alayna Kabanuk and junior Jamie Jenks each went 2-for-3 for the Flyers, with Jenks and Conley scoring twice and Kabanuk picking up a run and an RBI.

Senior Holly Kampa contributed three RBIs and junior Chantelle Anderson collected a single and a run.

Sophomore Alea Cekalla went the distance on the mound, allowing only three earned runs to notch the win.

Little Falls opens Section 6AA playoff action Friday at home against Pierz at 4:30 p.m.
