Baseball: Pierz splits doubleheader with Rockford Area

Senior Brad Trapp drove in all three of Pierz’ runs, including two on a two-out double in the sixth, to lead the Pioneers to a 3-2 win in the first game of Thursday’s doubleheader at Rockford Area.

The Rockets came back to win the finale 16-2.

Junior Nick Lochner went 2-for-3 in the opener with a run and stolen base for Pierz, with senior Trent Davis and junior Cody Nordmann also contributing a hit and a run.

Senior Logan Meyer tossed a six-hitter to record the complete-game victory.

Lochner picked up Pierz’ only hit in the second game.

Pierz wraps up its regular season at Long Prairie-Grey Eagle, Tuesday.
