A Mass of Christian Burial was held May 21 at St. John Nepomuk Catholic Church in Lastrup, with Fr. David Maciej, Fr. Troy Przybilla and Fr. Al Stangl concelebrating. Interment was in the parish cemetery.
Elaine Crescence Stangl was born June 7, 1922, in Pierz Township, Morrison County, to the late Frank and Frances (Kruschek) Stangl. She was united in marriage to Louis Kummet, Aug. 25, 1942, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Pierz. The couple farmed southeast of Lastrup until 1980. They then built a home near their farm where they lived. Elaine was strong in her faith and treasured her family, enjoyed gardening, quilting and playing cards. She was a member of St. John Nepomuk Catholic Church and the Christian Mothers.
Grateful for having shared her life are her children, Tony (Marlys) Kummet of Pierz, Bob (Julie) Kummet of Pierz, Tom (Julie) Kummet of Pierz, Louise (Dennis) Marshik of St. Anthony, Lois Przybilla of Andover, Elaine (Mike) Deeg of Apple Valley, Marian (Mike) Bennett of Mitchell, S.D, Fran (Roger) Waytashek of Crosby, Judy (Jerry) Pohlkamp of Sartell, Rose (Tom) Wright of Schertz, Texas and JoAnn McDonald of Stacy; daughter-in-law, Jan Kummet of Pierz; siblings, Richard (Arlene) Stangl of Buckman, Herman (Frances) Stangl of Pierz, Clarence (Judie) Stangl of Maple Plaine, Fr. Al Stangl of St. Cloud, Alvin (Carol) Stangl of Pierz and Marie Pohlkamp of Pierz; 35 grandchildren and 60 great-grandchildren.
Elaine was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Kummet April 14, 1997; parents, Frank and Frances (Kruschek) Stangl; son, James “Jim” Kummet; sons-in-law, Ken Przybilla and Dave McDonald; sisters, Margaret Athman and Evelyn Dehler; grandchildren, Eric and Kimberly Wright and Paul Kummet; great grandchildren, Lewis, Mercy, Mary, Lee, Luke and Corey Kummet and Alice Bennett.
Casketbearers were Tim Kummet, Chad Kummet, Brian Kummet, Jeremy Marshik, Zach Kummet and Todd Przybilla.
