John E. Zilkoski, 76

John F. Zilkoski, a resident of Little Falls, passed away Wednesday, May 16, at his home in Little Falls.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held Saturday, May 19, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Little Falls with Father Nick Landsberger officiating. Interment was in St. Mary’s Cemetery.

John F. Zilkoski was born June 7, 1935, in Pike Creek Township, Morrison County, to the late Cyril and Frances (Zoren) Zilkoski. He grew up in Pike Creek Township and attended school in Flensburg. Following his schooling, John worked various jobs. In 1957, John went to work at Hennepin Paper Company in Little Falls as a laborer, retiring in 1998, as a machinist. He was united in marriage to Marcella “Marcy” Kroll Aug. 29, 1960, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Royalton. John and his wife, Marcy, also farmed for 29 years on their hobby farm near Flensburg. The couple wintered in Mesa, Ariz., for 10 years. John enjoyed fishing, traveling and playing cards. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Little Falls.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Marcella “Marcy;” children, Marie (Donald) Bergeron of New Hope, Gerald (Lisa) Zilkoski of Bowlus and Connie Hansen of Edina; siblings, Laverne Schneider of Little Falls, Betty Gibson of Sioux Falls, S.D., Carol Thies of Buckman; twin sister, Joan (Ed) Zilka of St. Louis Park, Alyce Muncy of Buckman, and Sharon (Dave) Kirchner of Minnetonka; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Cyril and Frances Zilkoski and sisters, Violet Schneider, Lorraine Miller and Bernice Lyons-Gruber.
