Little Falls senior Chloe Nelson delivers a pitch during Friday's sub-section final against Albany.

Little Falls fell 6-1 to sixth-ranked Albany in Friday’s Sub-Section 6AA East championship game in St. Cloud.

Albany had an opportunity to take control of the game early, putting runners on second and third with nobody out to open the game.

But senior Chloe Nelson worked out of the jam and the game remained scoreless through two innings.

Albany broke through with a run in the top of the third, but the Flyers came right back in the bottom of the frame to tie the score.

Senior Makayla Jorgensen reached with a leadoff single, senior Kala Bzdok bunted her ahead to second and junior Chelsey Karnowski brought her home with a two-out single.

Albany regained the lead with a run in the fourth inning, then put the game away with two more in the fifth and seventh.

Jorgensen went 2-for-3, while Karnowski and seniors Holly Kampa and Alayna Kabanuk collected the Flyers’ other hits.

Little Falls will play Ottertail Central in section play, Tuesday, at Whitney Park in St. Cloud.

First pitch is scheduled for 5 p.m.

With a win, the Flyers would advance to take on the loser between Albany and West Sub-Section champion Staples-Motley at 7 p.m. for a spot in the section finals.
