The Royalton Sportsmen’s Club will host its 10th annual rough fish contest at the Royalton Sportsmen Park on the Mississippi River west of Royalton on County Road 26 (Nature Road). The event will take place Saturday, June 9.
The contest starts at noon and ends at 3 p.m., when prizes will be awarded. The contest is just for rough fish (carp and sucker only). It is open to all ages with two categories. Kids 12 and under fish for free and will receive a tackle pack (while supplies last). Many more prizes will be awarded throughout the day.
In the adult category, ages 13 and older, pay an entry fee with a 100 percent payback to the top three fish awarded. One prize per person is allowed. A first place trophy will also be awarded.
Kids fish from shore and wearing life jackets is advised, since the water is quite high at this time. Adults can fish from shore, boats or the bridge at the south end of the park to Blanchard Dam.
Games will be provided by the local Girl Scouts, and a deejay will be entertaining at 4 p.m. The Royalton Sportsmen’s Club annual raffle will be held at 5 p.m.
