Royalton broke through with its first two wins of the season in Victory League (VL) action this weekend, rolling past Flensburg 9-3, May 27, before cruising to a 14-4 victory over Cuyuna Range, Monday.
Aaron Trutwin and Hunter Young combined for seven hits for the Riverdogs in their win over Flensburg, with Emil Trutwin working seven innings to notch the victory.
Shawn Lanners followed with a breakout 4-for-6 performance against Cuyuna Range, doubling twice, homering, driving in five rouns and crossing the plate with two runs.
Paul Krebs reached base four times and scored three times and Matt Gottwalt picked up the complete-game win.
In other VL action May 26 – 28:
Upsala 11, Randall 1
Ben Burggraff and Joe Bartkowicz each homered, drove in two runs and crossed the plate twice to lead Upsala to an 11- win over Randall.
John Fuchs worked eight innings for the win.
Sobieski 24, Flensburg 4
Sobieski took apart Flensburg with ease for the second week in a row, slugging 22 hits in a 24-4 victory.
Isaac Smieja had four hits while Tyler Jendro and Brad Czech each had three hits and homered.
Harding 5, Pierz Brewers 4
Dan Rocheleau lined a walk-off single to left to bring home Curt Caughey and give Harding its first win of the season 5-4 over the Pierz Brewers.
Caughey also homered for Harding, while Chuck Boser went 2-for-4 with three RBIs for Pierz.
