James P. Dreiling, 65
James P. Dreiling, a resident of Little Falls, passed away Friday, June 1, 2012, at Highland Senior Living in Little Falls.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held June 5, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Little Falls, with Father Nicholas Landsberger officiating. Burial was at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery north of Little Falls. Military Rites were conducted by the MN State Honor Guard, Little Falls American Legion Post #1112 and VFW Post #46.
James P. Dreiling was born March 27, 1947, in Little Falls, to Carl A. and Eileen (Carson) Dreiling. He attended Catholic School thru 8th grade and graduated from Little Falls Community High School, class of 1965. He entered the service in 1966 and served in Vietnam from 1967-1968 and was honorably discharged. He was united in marriage to Jacqueline Houle, Oct. 31, 1970, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Little Falls. Jim and Jackie had their only child Tracie in 1972. He attended St. Cloud Votech and worked at Crestliner Boats until he joined the National Guard in 1975 and worked full-time at Camp Ripley until he retired. He was a member of the Little Falls American Legion Post #1112 and VFW Post #46. Jim enjoyed fishing, camping and spending time with his family and friends especially his grandsons. He will forever be remembered for his sense of humor and love of animals. Jim had a very kind heart and always had time to help anyone. He was honored by the Governor for saving two boys from drowning in the Mississippi River. Jim will be sadly missed by every life he has touched.
Jim is survived by his daughter, Tracie (Scott) Atkinson of Little Falls; brothers, Don (Debbie) Dreiling of Little Falls, Dan Dreiling of Fort Ripley, Chuck Dreiling of Little Falls, Tom Dreiling of Little Falls and Joe (Michelle) Dreiling of Little Falls; sisters, Carlene (Butch) Fietek of Little Falls, Mary (Tom) Ringwelski of Little Falls, Madonna Dreiling of St. Cloud; grandsons, Levi, Logan and Landon Atkinson of Little Falls ; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Jacqueline (Houle) Dreiling (March 1975); father, Carl Dreiling (July 2004), mother, Eileen Dreiling (April 2011), nephew, Caleb Abrahamson (July 2010).
Casketbearers were Garrett Dreiling, Nathan Dreiling, Troy Fietek, Trevor Dreiling-Koenig, Jason Dreiling and TJ Ringwelski.
