Gary Kahler, 44

Gary Kahler, a resident of Little Falls, died Thursday, June 14, 2012, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in St. Paul after a lengthy struggle with a brain aneurysm.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held Monday, June 18, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Little Falls, with Father Mark Innocenti officiating. Burial was in the parish cemetery.
Gary Kahler was born June 6, 1968, in Edina, to Gary and Janet (Durand) Kahler. He grew up in Chaska and graduated form Chaska High School in 1987. After graduation, he attended Hennepin County Technical College and received a diploma in mechanical drafting. He was united in marriage to Kay Meyer Oct. 24, 1998, at St. John’s Catholic Church in Meire Grove. The couple made their home in Little Falls, where they have raised their four children. Gary worked for Simplexgrinnell Fire Protection in St. Cloud, where he was a sprinkler system designer. Gary enjoyed model trains, fire trucks, watching NASCAR races, outdoor activities, TV watching and all types of skiing. Gary loved bringing people together, especially family and friends. He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Kay Kahler of Little Falls; children, Scott Kahler, Allyson Kahler, Sarah Kahler and Anna Kahler all at home in Little Falls; brother, Todd Kahler of Coates; grandmother, Agnes Kahler of Lakeville; mother, Janet (Dwight) Schultz of Chaska; father, Gary Kahler, Sr. of New Prague; stepbrother, Paul Schultz of Carver; step-sister, Patty Brumm of Cologne; several cousins; brothers and sisters-in-law; and 25 nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Scott Kahler; uncle, Buddy Durand; maternal grandparents, Willard and Louise Durand; paternal grandfather, Morris Kahler.
Memorials preferred to the children of Gary Kahler. The memorials may be given at any Wells Fargo Bank location in Gary’s name.
