The Little Falls VFW baseball team dropped its first game of the season in the opening game of Monday’s doubleheader against St. Cloud West, but bounced back to win the second for a split.
St. Cloud shut out the Flyers 4-0 in the opener, allowing only a two-out single by Gabe Ploof in the sixth to break up the no-hit bid.
Nick Anderson struck out two batters in two scoreless innings of relief.
Little Falls came back with a 6-3 win in the finale, scoring all of its runs in the first three innings.
John Lukasavitz drove in Adam Hallberg with a double for the first run of the game in the opening frame, then Thomas Bell brought in Mark Brezinka with a deep sacrifice fly in the second.
St. Cloud pulled back within a run in the top of the third, but Little Falls batted around in the bottom of the inning, highlighted by a two-run single by Evan Athman.
Brett Strack went the distance on the mound to pick up the win.
