Last year, the Swanville JO volleyball program had one team of 11 girls.
One year later, participation boomed to four teams with 27 girls, including age groups of 13 and under; 14 and under; 15 and under; and 17 and under, giving all girls from sixth – 11th grade a team to be a part of.
“We are seeing tremendous growth and dedication from our athletes and their families,” 15 and under coach Chris Sales said. “It is a great family to be a part of.”
Swanville took part in four tournaments this season, including three as part of the Minnesota Sports Federation league and one local tournament in Osakis.
Several of the teams took home medals, including a second-place finish by the 15 and under team at the St. Cloud tournament.
“We would also like to thank the Swanville Lions Club for their generous donation to help get our program rolling,” Sales said. “We are excited to see how much improvement the added
playing time will make for the high school volleyball teams this fall. We can’t wait for the fall season to begin.”
The 13 and under team was coached by Tammy Gruber.
The 14 and under team was coached by Rachael Beckman.
The 17 and under team was coached by Melanie Miller.
