Legion Baseball: Weiss, Meyer pitch Pierz to sweep over Cross Lake

Pierz first baseman Brady Dorn digs a ball out of the dirt to prevent an error and record an out during the opening game of Thursday’s doubleheader against Cross Lake.

Cody Weiss and Logan Meyer turned in back-to-back strong outings to lead the Pierz Legion baseball team to a 4-3, 3-1 sweep over Cross Lake, Thursday.

Weiss went the distance in the opener, scattering six hits and striking out six to earn the win.

Ben Boser went 3-for-3 with an RBI and Brad Meyer doubled, tripled and drove in two runs to lead Pierz offensively.

Meyer allowed only one run on five hits while fanning six batters to pick up the complete-game victory in the finale.

Noah Boser helped him at the plate, doubled and knocking in a run.
