VFW Baseball: Little Falls splits pair with St. Cloud Blue

The Little Falls VFW baseball team squared off against St. Cloud Blue, Thursday, splitting a pair against a team that featured seven varsity players and three starters from St. Cloud Cathedral’s state runner-up roster this spring.

Little Falls seized a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning as Ben Witt and Luke Cofell drove in runs.

But St. Cloud rallied with one in the third, three in the fourth and five in the fifth to earn a 9-2 victory.

Michael Fregin doubled while Witt and Thomas Bell also had hits for Little Falls.

The Flyers once again built an early lead in the finale and this time held on to edge St. Cloud 2-1.

Adam Hallberg doubled and came around to score in the first, then Austin Fenske singled home John Lukasavitz in the third.

Nick Anderson and Bell also had hits in the game, with Bell earning the win in relief.
