Bemidji was cruising through the first five innings of Tuesday’s doubleheader against the Little Falls Legion baseball team.
But a 3-0 lead quickly evaporated in the sixth after a costly error allowed two runs to score and Tony Arnold delivered a two-out RBI single to tie the score.
After Gabe Ploof kept visiting Bemidji off the board in the top of the seventh, Michael Holthaus reached base with a one-out single in the bottom of the inning.
The next batter was retired, but Collin Eckman drove a double to deep right-center to bring around Holthaus with the game-winning run to secure a 4-3 win.
Eckman and Holthaus each finished with two hits and Ploof earned the complete-game win on the mound.
It was more of the same in the finale, as the Flyers once again took down Bemidji, which finished second at the Class AAA state tournament during the high school season, by a 4-3 margin.
Joe Tuholsky led Little Falls with a pair of hits and two runs at the plate while also going the distance on the mound.
Bob Munnell contributed two hits as well.
Little Falls improved to 5-1 on the season with the sweep and moved into first place in its sub-district with a 3-1 record.
