To the Editor:
I was shocked by the Record when I opened up my usual paper and saw a photograph of a seven-month-old girl with a lollipop in her mouth. As a mother of young children, it surprises me that someone would allow a young child to have a choking hazard — and for the Record to post it.
Ask any doctor or caregiver and they will all say “no hard candy for children under the age of five.” I myself am still leery to give my almost six-year-old hard candy. As there had to be over 50 children old enough to have that type of candy at the parade, why was this the picture that made it?
As for the parents of that little girl: you have a beautiful daughter, but I hope you know how to do the Heimlich maneuver on little kids because, judging by the photograph, you’re going to need it. — Dusty Hauber, Little Falls
