JO Softball: Thoma, Kanieski propel comeback for Little Falls against Sartell

The Little Falls Junior Olympics (JO) softball team rallied back from a 5-2 deficit in the opening game of a doubleheader to gain a split versus Sartell, Tuesday.
Sartell built a 5-2 lead midway through the first game, but the host Flyers put together a four-run fourth inning to take the lead and earn a 6-5 win.
In the fourth, Kristen Gotfredson and Chelsey Karnowski singled and Korlyna Keehr walked before Abby Thoma came up with a triple to tie the score.
Katelynn Kanieski followed with a run-scoring single to left to put Little Falls ahead and Alea Cekalla shut the door on the mound to seal the win.
Cekalla pitched a three-hitter to earn the win, striking out one.
Thoma had two hits to lead Little Falls, with Emily Suska, Tristen Zimmerman, Chantelle Anderson, Karnowski, Cekalla, Gotfredson and Kanieski each picking up a hit.
Sartell came back to score five runs in the first inning of the finale en route to a 9-3 victory.
Kendra Pohlman doubled and Carly Townsend, Alyssa Thompson and Sarah Branchaud hit singles for Little Falls, with Pohlman, Townsend and Branchaud driving in one run apiece.
