Sophia Bieniek, 87

Sophia Bieniek, a resident of Bowlus, died Saturday, July 14, at St. Gabriel’s Hospital in Little Falls.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, July 18 at 11:00 A.M. at the Bowlus Community Center in Bowlus, MN with Father, Michael Kellogg and Father, John Odero con-celebrating officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may gather from 9:30 A.M. until the hour of the service at the Community Center on Wednesday.
Sophia Kromarek was born May 9, 1925, to the late Vincent and Agatha (Bieniek) Kromarek. She grew up in the Scranton, N.D. area and attended Bowman Township Country School. She was united in marriage to Thomas Bieniek, Oct. 30, 1948, in Scranton, N.D. In 1951, the couple moved to Bowlus, where they made their home for 61 years. Sophia was a homemaker raising her seven children. She enjoyed gardening, bird watching, puzzles, baking and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Left to cherish her memory are children, Conrad (Evelyn) Bieniek of Bowlus, Marene (Ray) Peterson of St. Joseph, Pat (Rita) Bieniek of Bowlus, Louella (Mark) Eichers of St. Joseph, Linda Pick of Rice and Joy Bieniek of Waite Park and Timothy (Janel) Bieniek of Bowlus; siblings, Louie Kromarek of Bowman, N.D., Katherine Maliscke of Bowman, N.D., Stanley (Annamarie) Kromarek of Belt, Mont. and Roy Kromarek of Scranton, N.D.; grandchildren, Christina Borlik, Jeremy Pick, Jason Pick, Heather Botten, Ryan Bieniek, Tracy Sterling, Nicole Bieniek, Dustin Eichers, Corey Eichers, Gary Peterson; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Thomas Bieniek, Sept. 27, 1998; siblings, John Kromarek, Pete Kromarek, Stella Heick, Frank Kromarek and two infant siblings.
Casketbearers were Jeremy Pick, Jason Pick, Ryan Bieniek, Dustin Eichers, Corey Eichers and Gary Peterson.
Honorary casketbearers were Christina Borlik, Heather Botten, Nicole Bieniek and Tracy Sterling.
