Residents warned of extra noise from Camp Ripley

The Minnesota National Guard is conducting training on the installation from Friday, July 27 – Thursday, Aug. 9 that will cause noise that may exceed what has been heard in the local area over the past few years.

On July 27, the M270 Multiple Launch Rocket System will fire rockets that will be seen with long white streams of smoke across the sky and loud audible noises.

Starting July 28 and continuing through Aug. 3, M1A2 Abrahams Tanks as well as 120mm Mortar fire will be heard during day and nighttime hours.

From July 30 – Aug. 9, the M777 155mm Howitzer will be heard with loud audible noises similar to thunder. Firing will be heard during day and nighttime hours.
